A good AMD.. or LGA 775 will do the trick.
Again as said above..
Motherboard
GPU.
then PSU most important pieces of the pie.

The for sale section of this fine site has a lot of good deals on select items on what ever the first time builder might ever want.
Check it out mang.
PPl are selling fine ass hardware for cheap cause they upgrade.
One of the things I hate about this hobby of ours.
And for a new builder. hmm.
I almost promise you.. that you'll prolly be doing what we all WILL be doing.
A PC is much more versatile than a console will ever be.
They're a lot to consider. Budget is the biggest.
I was in you shoes once..
Just keep reading reviews.. watch lots of videos..
don't be too keen on getting the most baddest **** out right now.
Cause it will be outdated as soon as you click the "Buy" button.

If this pc is just about Games. with now CPU intensive duties then go for a LGA 775 set up with a quad core.. or and AMD set up. don't need all that power for Games.. unless you bench like a mofo.

Amd but you can substitute I7 maybe... Or even a slightly less CPU and mobo to save money and get a killer CPU cooler. The megahalems is good but not available on Newegg AFAIK. This would be a killer build even with a SSD thrown in the mix for epic performance. Not needed really but your budget had room for it so why not.

This system is outdated but if your going budget then go this, other members are more experienced with setting up a good budget rig. Im only estimating American prices btw.
But you will most likely get an i5 or i7 for 1000 dorra these days
A Q9650 is not cheap, and why would this guy buy a processor for a dead socket?

Alos, don't let you Nvidia fanboy-ness cloud your thoughts. An ATI is much better for what this guy wants, he doesn't need to pay a large premium.
