Dell Overclocking

(I have just updated my cp and a first timer) i have a dell dimension 3000 but i have changed the cpu from a celeron d 2.4ghz to p4 prescott 478pin 800 fsb 3.2ghz my chipset is a intel 865gv my pLL is a ics 952601 i have 2gig of ddr pc 3200 ram and my bios is a02 i can not get in to the cpu in the bios to overclock (if i can overclock with my hardware?) i am desperate to overclock because i cannot afford to keep buying new cpu,s please,please,please can any1 help me overclock my system
ps.i have a 80gb hard drive if that helps cheers.

You can't overclock Dell PC's through bios, you may be able to through software such as softfsb http://www.majorgeeks.com/download434.html

Though again this may still not work.

yeah, you basically can't OC Dells at all. the bios are locked, and overclocking with software is always more risky than the bios. It is also hard to find overclocking software that will correctly identify your dell mobo.

Get a new motherboard. then you can overclock.

yup, your best bet is to go ahead and buy a new motherboard. Your Bios has no options to adjust anything but boot order and things like that. I pretty much had to rebuild my system (new MOBO, CPU, HD) to get the real kicks of over clocking. But you can pickup a good over clocking MOBO for pretty darn cheap, just make sure what ever you choose supports your CPU. I tried out the new biostar P4M80-M4 with the via chipset, and have had good success overclocking my celeron D 335 2.8 in the 3475.2 range and still climing with little tweaks here and there.

i was lucky and found out that somehow my gateway(impulse buy before i got fired :/) allows me to overclock
