Ati 9600xt temp

Hi everyone got a major problem really and just seeing if anyone can help.
Have got an Ati 9600 xt with just the standard fan on it. This is until I bought the Arctic Cooling VGA silencer
http://www.overclock.co.uk/customer/...roductid=17802

The problem is that I fitted the new cooler with great difficulty as one of the transistors kept getting in the way. Now when I play games like Pro evo 5 I get temperatures of 80 to 90 Celsius, which surely has to be high. When idle in windows it stays at 51 Celsius

Temperature readings are done Catalyst Control Centre

Just wanting some general advice on what to do? Are they normal temps?
What better designed alternatives are there?

Thanking you in advance

I have a VF700CU on mine and my temps are around 30-40C.
Very nice!

Zalman VF700-Cu will deliver much better temps than what you are getting with that Artic Scilencer. 50c Idle is a little on the high side, but 80-90c is a lot for just playing a game or something like that... Normal temps would be like 35c idle, and 50-60c load... I know that the Zalman one is compatble with your graphics card... but i think that scilencer should deliver better preformance than what you are getting..

the heatsink might not be seated correctly on the gpu, take it off and start again maybe to make sure it is all ok.

Appreciate your replies will try and re-sit the heat sink again, but the problem in the first place was the transistors, so maybe won't have no luck with the silencer.

If need be will get the Zalman as mentioned thank you.

But not too sure if its definitely compatible with 9600 xt

Thanks
