Yeah, you got a point...to an extent.

Looking at how AMD works this out, AM3 processors are compatible with AM2+ mobos. Those AM2+ mobos are still older technology. Intel can still make this idea work the same way. The only major thing is that if you drop an 1155 CPU in a compatible 1156 board (assuming they do this), that 1156 board will still be older tech. You know that people will want the best, so they will STILL buy the new mobos anyway.

Intel knows who they are really marketing to. That would be the people who update their builds often. People like the majority of this forum and ones like it. Intel will sell the fact that they have a new chip to the motherboard manufacturers, they buy into it and make the new motherboards, and Intel STILL makes money whether you buy the processor OR both.

Keep in mind, I have no clue honestly what kind of new things will make the 1155 boards work better, but that's my general thinking of it.

The old rule applies here, buy the absolute best cpu you can afford and ride it till you HAVE to replace it.

I had my Pentium 4 till February this year until I built this rig, the I7-860.

I went back and forth from the AMD/I7's then the 1156/1366. After reading all I could the 860 seemed like the best bet.. 2 days later the P6T and the 920 chip dropped to match what I spent on the ASUS/860 units....

If you wait, you will never buy, if you buy you will always have regrets... it's electronics...

still going to be interesting to see how Sandybridge pits against Bulldozer, from tests I've seen looks like AMD is finally coming back fighting, but alot of that is in things that would actually utilize that many cores, were no games really use anything close to that.

4 Month old bump again =D google ftw.

????

And what tests are these? Considering there have been no benchmarks for any Zambezi or Sandybridge chip yet.
