A great place to start looking would be ebay.com- thought that may mean risking a bit. That's because of the price range...better off going to used stuff, or you can't get half the stuff you wanted. Search for used dells, compaqs, and toshibas...and 15-15.4" screens are most fairly priced. Any higher or lower would make you spend more money. You might want to buy a barebone...I'll look for a setup for you.

Edit:
If you want a new system, you might want to spend a little more than that. Cheapest barebones are going around 550. P M 1.6 on ebay goes around 100, hard drive is around another 140, memory for 512mb is around 45...(g.skill on newegg shipped), a combo drive is 70 at digitalhotbuy.com...All that adds up to around 930, 270 over your goal spending. It might cost 30 dollars more if you want to use wireless.

If you want an old system...

and this one isn't bad for your specs:

Well , i was more willing to know, what types of laptops i could get for that price.

like for example like you said "compaq 34567 *example) is 800, but if i look for refusrbsih or used on ebay i can find it for 650.

i just want names. i want something slim like the Averatec 3715 http://ecoustics-cnet.com.com/Averat...-31517733.html which seems pretty portable, but i read in many forums is very defective.

i just want names of laptops that you have seen or know are a lil bit well.

i already have a monster comp at home, im loking for a travel computer, with more or less 256RAM 60HD 2usb plugs DVD/CDrw combo and at least 4 hours of life .

what do you think?

which one? I think for that kind of battery life you're expecting, you should look forward to P M laptops. They're excellent with batteries. You should also look for the smallest screen possible... I heard from my friends that Averatecs are decent, but I've read a lot about toshibas as well. Personally, I think if you can land yourself on an ASUS, it would make you very happy. That's probably all the advice I can offer...not all that pro myself, just assembled 2 notebooks in the past week, and quite excited about it ^^

(one was ASUS z63a, and other was ASUS Z70Va)

i meant something small like the Averatec 3715 , the screen is small , i don now if its a P M. alright well thatnks anyways, your time is valuable and im thankful you gave me your thoughts. the asus look interesting but seem a lil long and not so cheap.

If any body else can help me ,that would be greatly apreciated, by giving me names of slim laptops

PM...I don't see the point to get 64 at this point, especially for a notebook. Some people'd say that it's "future-proof," but nothing is future-proof. And that 64bit future won't dominate notebooks for quiet a while...and PM runs cooler, safer for your lap ^^

Get a P-M or a Turion. I see them as near equals.

I'd say look here on Ebay (check other brands, Apple?), on Newegg, or get one straight from Dell (WITH a coupon from GotApex or the like). Staples might have something...whatever floats your boat...

EDIT: By the way, Mobile Athlons/Semprons run hotter than Turions, but Celeron M is the same thing (heat-wise, similar perf-wise) as a Pentium M. The coolest AMDs: Turions. The coolest Intels: P-M, Cel-M.
