Firstly, because your username is atiguy, but you're an nvidia enthusiast. (a video card's got feelings ya know)

But I think its more an unstable overclock on the processor/ram than on the video card.

Im thinking its your PSU... My 6800gt did that then I sent it back and got a new one... Still did it once in a while.. Then I got a New PSU with 34A on the 12v... Good Luck.

I'd agree with Lost it probably the PSU, what are the amp ratings for your 12v rail on the current PSU?

YES...Only 15A on the +12V Rail, thats way to low to be powering that kind of graphic card and everything else. I'm running a 9800Pro on a 17A +12V rail I couldn't even run BF2 with the 2 extra 78CFM fans; it would downsize while loading. You need something like 30-32A min. on the +12V rails on a high end system. Don't just look at wattage when getting a PSU most of your stuff runs on the +12V rail so make sure it's allocated enough amps to run everything. My new PSU has 38A on 2 rails and will be plenty to power the new system w/ a 7800GT

How long have you been running that system...I'm suprised it loaded up.

24a minimum for a single card is recommended. Gator is on the money as to you not having enough power.
But also try dropping your OC as suggested.
Both are very valid factors.

well i have found that if I overclock the card and it is too high, the screen freezes, not restarts.
I dont think the overclock is making it freeze

But yeah I have this same problem with my 500W Ultra PSU. It sux. When buying your new PSU, follow the above advice for amps and also make sure you look for DUAL 12V RAILS. Way more stability.
