Overclocking RAM on stock BIOs?

I was wondering if it was possible to overclock your memory while on a stock PC. The BIOs seemed to disable my graphics card from doing so, but will it also lock the RAM speeds/timings?

My old Intel 875 motherboard gave me the option to set memory timings and voltage but not speed (which was automatically set).
