Here is a comparison on Newegg:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ubCategory=343

They appear to be exactly the same on every aspect of them, including price, with the exception of the core.

3700+ = San Diego
Opteron = Venus

Everything else about them, including voltage, is exactly the same according the the info on Newegg.

BUMB

any last minute advice!? I think im going with the Opteron 148!!
post #16 of 62
It's a photo finish
It's all about the core stepping... I'v not found JACK on the latest 148
Believe me I'v been looking everywhere and read more forum pages on the web that I care to admit
I have however concluded, the Optys usually get better OCs with moderate volting vs high volting even with FHS cooling!

i'd say go 3700+. i love mine, holds 2.6Ghz on the stock cooler with 1.5 volts, stable as a rock. i've gone to 2.8Ghz, but i had to keep a fan blowing on my computer. very easy chip to work with. just my $0.02

After looking at your system, I change my vote completely. I wouldn't upgrade the cpu, I'd upgrade the gpu. I think you'll see a larger difference in video games with that move over the cpu upgrade. If you're not interested in gaming performance, stick with the cpu upgrade.
