Comp won't boot

Thread Starter
okay, i finally decide to upgrade to an athlon 64 system
after installing all the parts, the comp won't boot
the led on the motherbord is lit, but when i press the power button nothing happens, no leds turn on, no fans, nothing.
is it a dead motherboard or cpu?

ok try testing different component of ur comp, probably power supply to start off wid, take it to a different comp, (e.g. if ur friend has a comp he could let u experiment on)

if the other comp starts wid ur power supply then u know ur power supply is fine.
if not, then it could be that ur motherboard is the problem. either it is dead or there might be some connections inside the case that are not connected properly i.e. psu connection to mobo, that are not properly connected, if they are, also check that they are not faulty

oh, and dont forget to check the hard disk ide cable comps normally dont boot without then (that is if u use a ata hdd that is configured as primary)

if everything else fails, then ur mobo is probably dead. static normally kills 'em
