Well, I'm building a pc for xmas. Just ordered the processor a few hours ago. Anyway, I'll give the specs before I ask the questions.

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Foxconn 939socket mobo
1gb Patriot pc3200 memory(might get 1.5 if i get the cash)
Sapphire x800gto2 which will be unlocked most likely OR Powercolor x800gto.
XClio 450w psu
Aspire x-dreamer case
120gb seagate 7200rpm hdd

Anyway, I want to play battlefield 2 on high with this computer. I know I wont be able to unless I get 1.5gb of ram and I plan to buy it as soon as possible. Anyway, what card would be better for gaming? Btw the specs are also in my "spec signature".

I would go for the X800GTO with 16 pipes because it is less money and comes with more pipes, but mainly because it's less money.

Well, the only reason I dont want to is because theres not a 100% chance that I'll be able to flash the card. I want to get at least x850 speeds. The main reason I'm buying this rig is again to be able to play battlefield 2 on high quality. Will the 16pipe gto be able to do it and if it is, will it lag or spike?

I recently posted in this thread. The 16 piped x800gto is basically a x800xl in disguise. You will not reach no where near x850xtpe speeds. The R430's were never known to be good overclockers.

Exactly. The gto2 may not unlock(although it prolly will), but it oc's way better than the gto.

The sapphire x800gto2 use's a guaranteed R480 core and Samsung 1.6ns memory. They unlock 99.9% of the time. There basically sold as moddable cards.

And it overclocks VERY well, most the time past X850XTPE with stock cooler.
