Thread Starter
don't know the right place to post, I am running a Intel CPU so I will start here.

my hp took a crap on me, blew some capacitors so I had my PC rebuilt.
what I have now is.
mother board is by MSI it is the pm8m-v Prescott ready up to a 3.4 CPU
my bios is Phoenix
my OS is windows XP Home
my CPU is a North Wood 2.2 P4 478 pin with a 512 L2 cache
my cooling fan is a copper core Intel made for a 3.4 processor
memory is Kingston PC 3200, 1 gig of 2 sticks of 512
video card is a pci Nvidia Gforce FX 5500 with 256mb of memory with the latest drivers
monitor is a 19" flat panel samsung syncmaster 914v set to 1280 X 1024 at 60hz
and I have a DSL Internet connection hooked up to my onboard Ethernet connection.

i have read that some have taken 2.0 and up processors to as much as 3.2
doubled the speed of the memory and almost doubled the speed on the same type of video card and made them very stable for a long life.

I'm not asking to set my PC to warp speed but I would like to make it fast and stable.
how would I go about doing this, and what would be the best settings?
my new system.

Welcome to Overclock.net

Reading the guide Adeoliver mentionned is the first thing you should do

and you should check if your mobo has the needed functions to overclock available in your BIOS.

EDIT: Adeoliver's link doesn't work lol :
