ABIT IS7-E Temp sensor problems

Thread Starter
Alright 2 questions about my motherboard:

1: I've been hearing a lot of people talking about the fact that the winbond senors on the ABIT motherboards are crappy and display an temperature higer then 10-15 Degrees Celsius. How much of this is true? Might explain why my nothwood is getting a very high temperature even though my room is cold and I have a pretty bick cooler.

2: I'm having trouble determeing wath the 4th temperature it. I starting to think its not even from my motherboard, but where is it from then :S

BTW: Just to confirm my first queston. The sensors are saying that my system(room) temperature is 33 degrees. Yeah sure, it actualy cold in my room at the moment. And belive me if it was 33degres I whould be feeling that :S

But is it save to assume that the temperature of my cpu is 10 degrees?

I can't tell about your sensors on that mobo.. but have you updated to the latest bios?
They usually fix temp mesuring problems in biosupdates.

You can find you CPU by running stress tests and such, then see which temp rises the fastest, other then that, I think you'll have to do some guesswork for the other temps..

But when you're ocing your CPU temp is the most important anyways, so it's not that bad if you don't really know what the others are.

Dude, NB: 33C is the northbridge temperature if I'm not mistaken. It's the air temperature inside your case.
To have a sensor give you the room temperature it should be installed outside the case

Just wanted to update.

I use the bios to pin down the temperaturs, the system and pwm temperatures star the same but the pwm rise when I sterss test my computer.

According to the sensor my system/room temperature is 33 degrees. This is impossible!! I've turned down my heater and opens my window about 30min ago and its freaking cold in here! its 7-8 degrees outside with a nw wind from the seas wich is even colder!!

Yeah, my Soyo board has that problem, but my monitoring utilities work fine most of the time.

System temperature is not the same as room temperature.
System temperature is the temp inside your case which can sometimes be 10C higher than room temp.
Now close that window before you get a pneumonia !

hehe I can handle a little cold. I just found out the their is a bios flash availabe that also solves (or should solve) the temperature problem. So ill set verything back to its old valueas, flash it and redo evrything again.

Doing a full stress test as we speak (prime95 and twice cpuburn (yeah that will hold him at 100%).

And the temperatue has yet to rise above 46degrees. The bios flash included calibrated settings for the temperature sensors finaly displaying the right temperatures. Knocked my cpu temperature down 10 degrees!!

Wee now lest start oc again

Hehe, btw when you update and rlear the cmons and reainstall everything keep in mind that some settings have changes. (like the sata choose option (bit different)). But soemthing else realy bugged me. Apparently the new bios serached for the best boot devise even if you're set you're own. The result was that my system kept searching for a bootable cd-rom and totlay skipped my windows instalation. Disabled the feature and it worked fine.
