PCI Express Frequency?

Thread Starter
What exactly are the problems with tuning up the frequency of PCI-E?

Some said graphic card damage while others said corruption of HDD and stuffs. Some rebutted that raising PCI-E frequency will not damage graphic card. So what is what exactly?

I have heard that anywhere up to 112-115 is OK, but higher will cause instability. (same as a CPU, I would expect. Clock to high and bad stuff happens) I do not think there is any GFX performance increase, but it has been said to help stable high bus speed OC's. (I also have mine at 101. Just cause it is one more thing to OC, lol)

I've heard it can marginally increase FPS by reducing bottlenecking on cards at 8x. I've also heard you can seriously mess things up so I leave mine alone.

DO NOT DO THAT.

There are mixed reports of how much dmg it causes, but almost no one says it does anything useful.

With that kind of a boost you risk damaging your motherboard, your gpu, or corrupting your HDD Data.

Just set it at 100 and leave it alone.

When I use AMD Overdrive (yes, I know this is a intel thread) it increases my PCIe freq to 103, with FSB to 208 and volts to 1.375 @3.2GHz mild every day OC. So 101 is VERY minimal. I would say (at least on a AMD) 106 should be plenty. That would take me past 3.6GHz including more FSB and volts.

Well, my motherboard won't let me overclock without raising PCI-E frequency.
