Help, can't get anything to work...

Thread Starter
I've tried all of the tricks that I've found around here. I've tried NVTweak, RivaTuner, Coolbits, Flashing the BIOS with one from and FX5500, and editing the stock BIOS to change timings from 250/266 to 270/300. My stupid POS graphics card just doesn't want to overclock at all. Period. If you look at my other posts, you can find my card specs and what I tried for flashing the BIOS. Does it matter what version of NVFlash I use?

Apollo Bloody Monster 3 GeForce FX5200
AGP 8x
128MB RAM (128-bit interface according to everest, I remember it as being 64...)
250Mhz core speed
266Mhz memory speed

It tells me that the selected frequency settings don't work, even if I try to underclock it. Is it a GPU or Mobo problem possibly? The board's a SOYO SY-KT600 Dragon Plus V2.0 if it helps at all.

Only problem is, Everest home addition and the nVidia control panel still say it's running at 250/266. What's up with that?
Please help me.

Well, I've got good news and I've got bad news. The good news is my GPU really was overclocking. The bad news is that it overheated during 3DMark03 benchmarks and I had to reset my CMOS and my card's BIOS. But everything seems to be working. Guess I need to find a better-cooled card for overclocking.

Actually, I'm thinking about changing to a better card, as I'm hoping to get Fable for christmas. Any sub-$100 suggestions?

Here a nice 6600LE
I believe slightly better than a GT.
Assuming you have an AGP?

How about this one?
http://www.newegg.com/product/Produc.../8X+Video+Card
These can be reasonably overclocked, right?

Thats a good card as well. But 100mhz slower in memory than the other.
And yes to question. It all depends on your cooling.

Just tried again using timings of 260core/270mem. Sucessfully completed all of my benchmarks, but without a whole lot of fanfare. Results are:

3DMark2001SE: 4908, formerly 4822
3DMark03: 1064, formerly 1051
Aquamark3: still 7837

My guess is that the memory is the limiting factor here.

This is weird, I upped the timings to 265/275, and my 3DMark03 score dropped 6 points (1064 to 1058). Shouldn't it have gone up?
