$2000 CAD build - Page 2

Got the parts today, Here's $850 worth of graphics card...

It came in this packaging... you would think for $850 they would give it some nice packaging...

but whatever, it doesn't matter to my customer.

Here's the system fully assembled, I'm running 3dmark vantage as i type.

I have no idea when it comes to cad benchmarks, anyone have any good ones? I would like to be able to quantify the before and after when i overclock.

Well the card should do terribly in 3dmark as it's not a gaming card. I honestly can't think of a good benchmark for that kind of card. I'd just worry about the CPU overclocking.

I honestly don't know much about 3dmark vantage any more, so i'm not sure if this is any good, but yeah I'm planning on just overclocking the CPU.

Well there isnt much of a difference between Firepro cards and the 4800 series cards except the fact that the drivers are optimized for CAD-like applications.

I think i'm going to stick with a mild 3.7 Ghz overclock. I Really don't want to have to mess with this at all for the next couple of years. After I'm done with 24 hours of linpack I'll run some more benchmarks.

well, I didn't have the patience for 24 hours, but 21 is good enough.

here's the overclocked 3dmark vantage score. Not much of a difference over all, but the CPU score is better, and that's all i overclocked.

I really would like to be able to see how much of a difference this will make in a cad program...

The Vcore is obviously wrong, but here's the 24 hours linpack stable
