Amd Engineering Sample - Page 3

Thread Starter
I have already updated the bios to the latest on asrocks website with the same result as regards cpu recognition and speed, what I need now is a program that can determine what speed (in mhz) my Athlon 3700/? is running at. I am sure that it is an engineering sample chip with the multipliers unlocked both up and down. Also this cpu does have a heat spreader and does have the 3700 opn code on it.

try the attached proggy, i think it reads the chip similar to bios, not sure though. Try it and see.

What is the steppings on the die. If its a mobile, they only work on some boards, I have several, DFI & gigbyte so far are the only two that I have found that works. When I put them in any other boards all I could get out of them was 800mhz no matter what cpu it is.

What does it say on the processor itself? That would be the best way to figure this out... Sounds to me you got a mobile chip though.

The lettering on the heat spreader die is as follows:-

AMD ATHLON 64
ADA3700 AEP5AP
CAAMC 0342RPMW
9772365J30132

Also cpuinfo read the cpu as an AMD Engineering Sample running at 803mhz

That's not a San Diego stepping. Anyone know what it is?

sccr64472 this is not a San Diego core but a Clawhammer core socket 754 cpu the problem is that it is supposed to be a 3700 but according to bios,cpu-z and cpuinfo it is an engineering sample running at 803mhz. If it is an engineering sample am I bettter off keeping it or getting a true 3700?

Download PCWizard2006 and see what cpu speed it's registering.
