Tt Big Typhoon blows my mind!! Anyone considering buying this read this!

Before my Tt Big Typhoon, I had a Zalman CNPS7700cu and with that I had temps of 45/73 with low fan speed and on high fan speed I got 40/67. Now, my Big Typhoon is not only quieter than the Zalman even on low speed (the Big Typhoon only has 1 fan speed) but my temps are 30/50!! I am shocked, now this is after the AS5 has cured for all of 12 minutes! lol, once I let it cure for the whole 200 hours I bet my temps will be another 2-3c lower!! My only gripes about it is the installation, the motherboard has to be removed for LGA775 installation (as it did for the Zalman's install) and the little nuts you screw onto the screws to hold it down are tiny and very hard to hold and manipulate. I ended up taking the whole mobo all the way out of my case and installing the HSF with the mobo sitting on a swivel chair But that hardly bothers me since my temps are so incredibly low. Too bad I cannot OC any more since my mobo is what was holding me back, but 73c load temps were scaring me and the noise with the Zalman on high was a bit too much, especially if was still giving me 67c loads!

Yup, the typhoon is the stuff

Do you need to remove the motherboard to install the typhoon for a socket 478 cpu?

I always knew it was the stuff, I had seen first hand how well it cooled a overclocked Athlon 64 X2 3800+ with 1.7vCore (in pandapimp's computer) but I never realised just how silent it is since pandapimp's case fans are Thermaltake adjustable ones and he always has them at like 2000RPM for the 120's and about 3000RPM for the 80's, I have 1300RPM 120mm SilenX 14dBA case fans so I can truly appreciate how quiet the Tt Big Typhoon is, but I mean 30c idle on uncured AS5 with a OCed P4 Prescott!! That is just nutz, especially at only 16dBA!!

I just looked at the installation instructions (still haven't cleaned up my mess I made installing it lol) and it has LGA775 and P4, so assuming P4 is s478, then yes you do. But trust me, it is worth it, do you really want 1.5LBs hanging off 6in off of your mobo without a metal backbrace supporting it? lol.

yes i think you will have to. to install the backplate. I agree 120% with all the other posts about how good and quite it is.
hopefully i got the attachment right, look at the temps i got while running at 2.2 in the occt half hour test, they seem unreal.

The bigtyphoon and the 7700 are no comparison.

You whould compare the Big typhoon with the cnps 9500
