i just took out a gig of ram so i have 1 gb of ram on that mobo..but im still getting the error...when it says disk boot failure... is it asking me to use my windows disk? because i put it in there? i think it might be a problem with my cd/dvd rom...because it doesnt sound like its reading it...because usually it makes some crazy sound when it reads something..but right now it doesnt

the cd/dvdrom is plugged into the sencodary IDE plug to my mobo and it is set to MASTER in the back of the drive

OK let me ask u this, is that the same hard drive u used on ur old asus mobo? if it is u need to wipe out that hard drive due to sum asus stuff its still in there and ur new mobo is not recognizing it, i believe theres a way to get around that wiping hard drive, i remember seeing it on an old thread.

what u need to do is this once u restarted ur computer press DELETE key it will give u the bios menu, once ur on the bios menu go to ADVANCE BIOS FEATUREs, look for CD-rom BOOT priority highlight it by scrolling down with the arrow key once ur there hit enter then it will give u another option set dvd or cd rom as priority boot. and disable the rest except for the hard drive that is. save and exit on u have saved and exited ur computer should restart upon rebooting hit enter to reboot from CD from there u can reinstall windows xp. then follow procedure. i recomend wiping the entire hard drive reformat it.

For future reference http://overclock.net/faqs/12468-dfi-...uide-part.html its wise to have this link book marked

If this is on a DFI nf3 250gb, the ram could be the culprit. BTW shortfuse if this is the nf3 250gb he can not get to bios at all.
When I get this error, I can generaly over come it after a wile of constant reboots. the few times I havent been able to get it to boot I was eventualy able to get it to boot by pressing the insert key repetedly when turning the machine on(MSI method, but worked. may have been a coincidence) or by swaping my ocz ram out for some ram that didnt require as much voltage.
