Bios Flash??(asus A8n-sli)

Thread Starter
My order is coming in today a ASUS A8N-SLI mobo, a AMD X2 3800, 1 gig OCZ platinum, and a EVGA 7800gt. I hear alot from people that iam probly going to have to flash the bios because of the X2 it wont recognize the dual core. How do i flash the bios i have never done it before. Any one with this board tell me how you like it and if you have any problems.

It will say in the Motherboard manual. I just did this yesterday.

1. Need 2 floppy disks
2. Format 1 as a DOS Boot Disk
3. Download the newest BIOS from the Asus website and copy it to the second disk, not the DOS boot Disk, remember the name of the BIOS file, it will be something .bin, probably name it like 1009.bin or whatever the BIOS version it is
4. Copy AWDFLASH.EXE from the motherboard CD that comes with the motherboard to the second disk with the BIOS on it
5. restart the computer and insert the DOS boot disk so the computer will boot off that disk
6. Once the A: comes up insert the disk with the BIOS on it and type AWDFLASH.EXE to launch the flash software
7. Type in the name of the BIOS file, the .bin file
8. Press 'N' when it asks (not enough room on the disk to copy it, you'll see)
9. Then it goes through it and you're done

Actually...there's an easy way but i forgot what it was called...you should be able to just put the floppy in the drive and when post comes up press alt+f2 and it should flash it for you.

I spelled out how to do it step by step. Just follow those and you'll have no problem. It takes no more than 10 minutes. It's a piece of cake.
