Can't Initialize Disk

I got a new hdd, Diamondmax10 300gb 16mb cache sata2 hdd... well, i clicked on initialize disk (in disk management), and after a while it told me i cannot initialize it. It got a busy logo over it. I don't know what to do.

Since it is such a large disk it may take a while. If this is a consistant problem reboot and make sure everything is properly recognized in the BIOS.

It took several hours before it said that it cannot utilize it.. it's recognized in the bios though. Look at disk 1, it got a busy logo. :/
