Hey, have any of you ever messed with the card's memory timeings? I haven't b ut if you could tweak them it looks like you could really get some boosted performance especally because the x800xl has a slower memory speed than some of the higher 6 series cards.

i wouldnt touch them, they are set in the factory and have good timings out of the box, you can if you like but you will only make it crash and unstable, you are better just going for a higher speed if possible, my xl can run 605 no worries.

If you want some extra o/c abilit do this * By the way, This is usually just by using spare parts, screw wasting money on unnecessary commodities! *

Look at the back of your gpu. You will see several black squares, obviously you know that this is your ram Get some of those yellow things that you stick into drywall to hang pictures, they're like plastic screws? .. Anyways get a 80mm fan stick the yellow things over the fan screws and there you have it. Active cooling for your ram and back of your gpu aswell as your card's PCB. I got to 549.00 absolutely stable with this. Before if I put my core at 550, I'd get big artifacts and usually it'd end up in my system crashing, Now i run it 24/7. It lowered my temps alloooot!!!

What else.. Umm definitely the as5 will help your core temps. Do the fan thing at the back to get a extra few mhz, temp decrease and overall better longevitiy. I also mounted on fan under my GPU blowing upwards. Me temps pwn!

Last thing though I am running the latest catalyst drivers, now are ati drivers like nvida's in that they have 3rd party drivers that when installed give you better performance, if so can you give me a link to them? Thanks for the help so far guys I really enjoy it.

BTW, Fishie36 what temps are you getting on your card?
Yes, I suggest trying the NGO drivers from Guru3d.com.

I may get one but first I must get somthing for my laptop. If I do end up getting it it's not because of noise because I honestly can't hear the gpu over my tornado running at 100%, 100% of the time that it's on, and If I do end up getting it it'll be because I can't play a game at highest/high settings which I can do now, and the extra mhz I will get out of it probley woulden't be enough to do that with future games.
