If you're trying this on your sig rig . . it's a desktop not a laptop so you won't be able to. But you would be able to open the power options window and Pin it to the taskbar.

Power profiles as in peformance or balanced? Like in power usage? The screen shot you posted looks like it is for battery options for laptops as Dobbie suggested.

That icon is for laptops only. I'm assuming you are trying this in a desktop.

Uhmm unless you have a UPS I don't see why your desktop has power besides the AC coming into it from the wall socket lol.

I will assume what you want is a easy click to 'power options' so you can swap between different settings of when the monitor will turn off and the computer will go to sleep? Not sure how to do that but I do not believe that laptop option is the answer.

It's laptop only so that a user on a laptop will know if/when the battery is fully charged, or if/when the system becomes unplugged. As for a desktop, as long as your seeing your desktop, then you don't need notification that your system is plugged in; if it wasn't, you would know.

The reason why it's laptop only is because we don't have any use for it to be there. I know you want it there and I know why, but there isn't a way to get it there with a desktop system.

So here's what I recommend doing:
  1. Add the Quick-Launch toolbar to the Taskbar
  2. Right-click on the Power Options control panel icon and choose "Create shortcut".
  3. Click & drag the shortcut to the Quick Launch toolbar.
  4. Permanently delete the shortcut from the Desktop (hold Shift while choosing Delete).
  5. Keep the Quick Launch toolbar next to the Notification Area.
It's a computer!
