well i just got a new amd athlon 3700+ procesor and a gigabyte k8 triton motherboard.. i just installed it and everything and its TONS faster than what i had before which was a 2.8ghz celeron procesor with only 128 cache and 400 fsb! anyways my new amd procesor is clocked at 2.41 ghz and 1600 fsb, i plan on OC'ing it somtime but i'm afraid that i'm going to burning it up. i don't want to go crazy with it but somthing alittle noticable.. the gigabyte motherbourd has an OC'ing tool called easy tune5 its seems very good, but i uped the mhz from 2411.00 to like 2429.00 or somthin like that and it changed the settings like fsb exc.. under the tool but when i go under system it still reads 2.41.. ?? some help on this would be great ... i also have alot of options under bios but not sure what i'm doing when it comes to the bios.. also the tool for oc'ing also gives me the option to change voltage exc.. id apreciate the help !

i don't have too much experiance with gigabyte boards but if your looking to over clock your computer... going into your bios will be the better thing to do than using the utility that works within windows. i know that the processor you have can do some real good overclocking so it wont be too hard to do it. i'm going to look for the guide to show you how to do a nice overclock within bios... hold up

there it is... i'm pretty sure with stock cooling you can get a good 400mhz outa it.

well i decided to try it from the bios i uped the cpu frequency from 200 to 210 and it took it just fine! under system information it now says 2.52 ghz!!! this is my first time over clocking! my celeron wouldn't let me over clock at all.. will ram slow my computer down becuase i just relized the ram my i have isn't ddr400 its ddr333 ? will i notice anything with the upgrade to ddr400 ?
