Alright i have roughly 250$ and want a upgrade, i have a Sempron Socket A running at 2.0ghz but i want to upgrade to amd athlon so i thought i might get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103535 for 162$ and i need a motherboard with either agp 8x, or pci-e 16x with integrated video. or should i buy a different processor and motherboard? i have no clue. i am open to any suggestion.

Well starting from where you are. I would suggest to keep the socketA setup as it is, as you will need to spend a few dollars on motherboard and AGP to increase your overall performance.
A better option would be to start on the path of acquiring new components in the socket 939 using PCI-e if you wish to stay AMD.

But I guess it reduces itself to your budget restraints.

cheers

edit : ..I should read the link first as I now see you are going the way of AMD 64 socket939

The MSI Neo4-Fs are 80 dollars, and great for Overclocking. You can stil an AMD 64 Venice 3000+ on that, you can find those for 140. So that 220 dollars. I think you can buy a Geforce 6600gt with the rest.

For $350!? Uh... I'll do my best.

The 6600gt is $120, leaving us with $230 to spend.

The cheapest Asus board I found meeting your requirements is the A8N5x, which is $90.

So, that leaves us with $130 left to spend. You can get a 3000+ with $130. With 30 more you can get the 3200+. I think that's the best you can do.

seeing as that would be extremly low budget i could buy just a processor and motherboard as long as the motherboard had a onboard graphics card better than my old geforce 4 mx integrated to tide me over till i can afford a 6600gt or somethintg. Thx

You seem to think that the Venice 3000+ is a terrible processor. Overclocked, it really runs fine. Sure, it's no San Diego 3700+, but it's not like a Pentium II either. The Venice is one of the most overclockable chips out there. Get it and have some fun with it.

Wow...what in the...

I don't even know what's going on there.

Use Froogle.com or Pricegrabber.com and look up the Venice 3000+, you can find it for around $130.
