In the beginning E8700 build,test & overclock

Well Guys and Gales, Here I will start the build and testing of the Infamous accidental find or the E8700 found buy ME!! Fearlessleader.

So far to date there has been only 2 of these chips located. Not to say that more could not be out there but so far none have been found. There is one other, it's twin I suppose and the owner has been in contact with me to confirm, that yes there is one other then this one for sure. But that it folks 2 !! just 2 .

It seem Intel had plans the beginning of this year to release this E8700 but for what ever reason it was canned and pulled for the release list on the Intel web site.

Now this chip came into my possession completely by accident when I won a auction on eBay some 3 weeks back from a seller in Malaysia. I won 2 QX9650's late one nght on eBay. Now this is where things got a bit crazy. When the chips came by FedX a few days later my wife was looking over the new OEM QX9650's when she notice that one of the chips was not indeed a QX9650 but rather a E8700 Dual Core WOW imagine my surprise!!

Now the fact that I was buying a pair of very expensive CPU's from Malaysia was scary enough. This had me climbing to walls to say the least. It was more like Holy 911!!!

I never even knew this chip existed or was even dreamed of. So my first thought was Google it and find out how bad I got screwed. Right sound like a plan!

OK this was where thing went right straight to insane real fast. At first my Wife and I could not find anything about this chip but the rumor mill stuff about it. Well at this time I was a member and I still a member in the Extreem System forum. So my thought was let take a picture of the chip still in the package the way it was shipped for proof in eBay and to the seller that I got the wrong chip. So we take the pic and head to the forum to ask the Uber Geeks. What is this that I have here. And yes what is it worth?

Well, This was where all hell broke out for recess!! The Holy Grail quest to prove this chip was real was born.

Wow the first 24 hours, the whole tech world was like this spotting of Elvis had occurred and in the end finding out he really was alive !! Now that is where it gets even more crazy.

Now much has happen since I discovered this chip, But mostly I think everyone had heard enough of all that.

I am here today to begin the build, test overclocking and some benchies. Yep there are a few that have been waiting for this!!!

I will start with some pictures and over the next days build and test this bad boy. I was wanting to do this in the beginning but do to The death of my best friend I just decided to sell the chip on eBay and put it behind me.

Well so much for plans, it seems when it comes to this chip. But now thanks to a Dead Beat bidder I will get he chance to build and test this a bit. I hope you all will get involved and we can see how well the chip will clock within
reason as it so rare and valuable I don't want to smoke chip. It will still get sold in the end. At that time this rig I am building will get the chip I really did intend to buy the QX9650.

Ok here we go with the first pic's I hope you all enjoy the story..

In the beginning

The Tape Opps !!

Yep then I get it right Look Guys No Tape

Some validation Please they say so I put a little clock on it for them

Ok we still don't believe you

Yep now now Elvis is alive
and bring me to today and the building begins

Our old friend get a new home

This time we will keep our Kool Lance

Here is that house I was promised

What would life be with out a little Danger

Got to light the place up

Here we are snug as a bug in a rug

Day 2 Pic's

Let there be water I say and there was water !!!

Little juice seems to be a good Idea. Nice little OCZ GameXtream 850 watt should do the trick. I say little IMHO about the smallest PSU I would use. I hate buying the smaller PSU and then they never have enough 8 pin Pci cables. BTW if anyone needs one of these SVC is selling these for 55 bucks as re-certs

Here is where it all starts. I am still collecting parts or waiting for some to arrive..

So stay tooned to that same bat channel we will be back after station identification.

Really that is for tonight I hope you like it. There is lots more fun to come

Here is some of the basics
E8700 of course
Ga-EP45-UD3P
OCZ Flex II Pc2-9200 on water
OCZ GameXtream 850w
Antec 900 case
150 Gb Raptor
Video card XFX 4870 1GB XXX
Danger Den Single bay Res
TT Pump it was all I had but working on a deal for a D5 Laing
Koolance Cpu-350AC
Rad is up in the air I have a X-Flow Black Ice Xtreme III 360 its not real pretty at the moment. I need to leak test it anyway one of those Fleabay deals.
I would have like a Thermochill HE120.2 or Black Ice Xtreme II 240

Well look at the bright side we get to have a bit more fun with it and I hope it finds a good home in the process this time. I just don't think eBay is the place for something like this!!

Hey atleast you have the right board for it. I doubt that board will limit your oc or fsb in anyway.
