Urgent Problem! Need quick help! - Page 2

Shouldn't you have your HDD as master and your optical as slave? You might need to enable/disable LBA in order to boot properly. Are your cards seated properly?

you might be having a bios problem maybe, mine has done it and i looked around and it said it is a problem but just do a restart and it will fire. thats with my mobo anyway. and take out ya dvd drive

I will try this right now

and laboitenoire : I have always ran my cd rom as the master because it is above the HD, never had any problems before until now so i know it isnt that. Everything is seated correctly, and what is LBA?

hmm what i would personally do is change put hdd as primary jumper setting and in primary ide cable and then put dvd on a seperate ide cable on primary in secondary ide controller, now, for the flashing cursor, to me that seems like that is a monitor problem or as i have recently found out with a old computer, moving around a pci network card seemed to fix it aswell but i experimented, done a lot to it, try the following

taking out pci cards and booting up

taking out graphics card (if onboard is available)

when comp loads up hold either F2 or DEL and go into bios (i would check this you have cleared cmos so i would reconfigure to the following devices boot up first, in this order floppy, dvd drive, ide hdd)

try 1 slot of ram in if it works go through all the ram one at a time, till you come up with a problem, that may be the issue

if you have a spare HD, try putting a fresh install of windows on it, and see if that boots

zerohour,

I'm sorry I couldn't help. The last thing I can suggest is to lower the voltage on the RAM to 2.6V. I'm assuming you've tried everything else I've suggested, ie; adjusting the date in the BIOS to today's date?
