Guys i could really use help with this asap, with that information above mean that my HD went bad? I dont see what i could have done, all i did was take my stuff out of my case and set it up again. Would this type of problem be caused by bent IDE pins on the HD?

Just a guess but, does it reset the CMOS everytime you boot up? U may need a new CMOS battery then.

Have you tried the "Full DFI CMOS Reset"

Quote:
The proper Clear CMOS recovery. Not to be confused with a Normal CMOS Clear.

You can not use a USB keyboard for this procedure. You must use a PS2 keyboard.

You will need your manual to find the jumpers that must be changed.

If you skip or miss any step you must start again since the results will not be valid.
------
Remove power from the rig by pulling the plug or switching the PSU off.

Move the PC Speaker jumper to the ON position.

Remove the Battery.

Move the CMOS jumper to CLEAR.

Press the Start Button on the case or motherboard to drain the capacitors.

You may leave the board in this condition for as long as it takes to clear the CMOS. If a short 30 second clear or a 15 minute clear doesn't work, try an 8 hour clear.

Plug in a PS2 Keyboard.

Put one stick of RAM in the top orange slot marked DIMM2.

Move the CMOS jumper to Normal.

Replace the Battery.

Press and hold the Insert Key on the Keyboard.

Apply power to the rig by plugging the power in or using the switch on the PSU.

Press the Start Button to power the rig up.

When you hear the BEEP, release the Insert Key and press the Delete Key on the Keyboard.

Once you enter the BIOS set the DATE and TIME then Load Optimized Defaults.

Save and Exit.

Enter the BIOS again and set it up the way you want for your particular rig.

NEVER load any saved CMOS settings from CMOS Reloaded once you have a new BIOS installed.

Are you sure you're HDD isn't faulty? You could always try booting from a good old DOS floppy or try the HDD in another rig.

I get a slightly similar problem with my Intel rig, but only when I overclock too high. If you are overclocking I assume you have tried setting your components default configuration in the motherboard BIOS.

Sorry if this doesn't help but it's a weird problem I've never come across.

Lol, zero its ur hdd.
I had the exact same thing. Make sure its plugged in man!!!
Thats what kept happeneing to me. My sata plug wasnt very good and slipepd out sometimes. Then i got that whole story. Its for sure ur hdd. Does it spin up when it starts? Does the little green led on the back flicker?
U sure u got the right ports connected lol?

Ok thanks everyone for the responses.

1st- I cannot boot from the windows CD, it just sits at the same spot
2nd- The version of windows is not pirated
3rd- cmos does not restart everytime I turn on the computer, only when i reset it myself
4th- I have not tried a "Full DFI CMOS Reset"
5th Hard drive is connected correctly, I am not sure if it spins on bootup, and I am not sure about the LED lights on the back.

I was beginning to believe it was the HD too, but that doesn't make much sense because all I did was take everything out of my case and set it up again. The connections between the HD are all tight, should I still RMA it? Arg what a hassle.
