[Intermediate] 2010 - Roots Reggae Music Mod - Page 2

Got 2 holes on the side-panel now, 1 to be able to flip HD and 1 for PSU cables
The protective edges will come, having hard time to find dem in shops

Alot more space huh ? I need it for something special and never seen before but dont tell anyone



If you look closely to the top u will see 3 LED's hanging there, red, yellow and green to make my own handmade light-system in the case. at the bottom there wil be 3 more just like on top, i will make a photo session of that last part of the lighting system so you can see how i dit it





Took the fangaurd out and replaced if for a silver one from Scythe, used Goldem screws to attach it

Need to get rid of that 8-pin cable running across the board, will do that in next pics

Want to do and show soooooooooo much more but god this camara is sucky
really hope i can buy a better camara soon

Have cut the 8-pin connecter wich goes next to cpu to make it longer, it no longer goes acros the board but runs acros the back now, if you look on pictures from previous post then you will see that cable running across the board. see difference with picture of previous post with this one

Allright, coming back on the lighting system .
here a few pictures on how i installed a LED light system.
The light looks pretty cool, hard to get on camara though.
Still need to find away to disable the LED in the CPU cooler, back on that later.

Also i have made my own system speaker, there never was one in before but a proper rasta-man cant do without speakers, not even if it just bleeps.
Found a cool looking speaker in one of those mini-speakersets for Ipod or a phone.

Also have put in a SSD to use as Boot-drive. it boots alot faster and was really easy to hide out of sight.



a bit of that sticky stuff [dont know english name ] on the case and the SSD
Now SSD can easely be exchanged to.

Here you can also see how i made the 8-pin power connector longer, cut al the 8 cables and put some cable between it to make it longer its the yellow wires you see,the white wires on it is what was used to make them longer

Tada, 1 SSD out of sight [side-panel will go over it]

Attached Fan-cable 4 from fan-controll to power the LED's and be able to dim them to

Now to put the speaker in it, there wires go round the drive-bay so you dont see it.

Still have alot to do with the computer but a bit poor at the moment and the weather outside is really really bad for painting.....

So another thing i can do allready is offcourse the music part.
As you have noticed this Mod is all about music, roots reggae music to be precise.
there is only a raptor 150GB drive and an intel SSD 40GB drive for boot in it.
Not enough storage for music and other media offcourse.

So now i have put all my roots reggae music on my server, the server allready was serving people on DC++ where they could download reggae from me and others.
Have put a 1,5TB drive in it for windows and media [2 partitions] + a 640GB drive to back-up the roots reggae music. they are all WD green disk's to save power
The server runs on a celeron E2200, 2GB RAM 800mhz and a 300W PSU 80+ rating to also save power. It feeds internet to all other computers in home to.

So now this PC got its roots reggae music and internet back through a network.
reaching up to 770mbps on network, could be better with 1gbps maybe but it feels fast.

I have installed shoutcast server on it + SAM Broadcaster
This way everyone can enjoy some sweet reggae music while you sit back and read this thread.

The radio contains only reall vynil records and all of dem are singles
Some dancehall tunes from record also still in there i try to delete dem fast.

Now having mass storage through my network i would like another SSD to replace my raptor in this one badly. there wouldnt be any drive to see in the case at all then
Ill just have to save up

I done a several few things, time to post it
I replaced the last plain disk for another SSD on the side panel. the harddrive bays are empty now and u can see no disk or SSD in the case at all. I adjusted the fan from the Zalman cnps cpu cooler to, from a 90mm to a 120mm.




Here is the second SSD, an Intel postville 80GB
Installed this just as first SSD only made the new 80GB C: and the 40Gb D:



I thought the cpu cooler got a tiny fan and should be replaced easy by a 120mm
I took a scythe fan i had lying around here, it got a fan-control to wich is a nice extra

We take his little fan out



And put a bigger one in



Instal it back in the computer, the fan control is installed at the back. its the big dail in the first slot of the backplate.



2 tiewraps put the fan securely in place. its sits down really tight.

lol, that was really really easy



Time for some more advanced light's in this case-mod
Made a panel with 3 switches, each switch for a different color cold-cathode [red,yellow,green]
Alot of more work on the cables need to be done after this, first i got it to work, later ill do more cable-management.
Here are the pictures of how i done it.



A same frontpanel thing used as to stealth the dvd player with it, drilled 3 holes to where the switches will be seated

Light can be switched to whatever you want, red, yellow or green or a mix of them
When switched on or off the self-made LED's can also still be adjusted.

For some reasons this computer was starting to freeze up and go BSOD, i knew my intergated wireless gave probs before and therefore was shut of in the bios. I checked if it was still of but suprisingly the whole setting was gone. the chip maybe damaged more on my board, have no idea really but i couldnt use this computer anymore.

This used to be a very fancy board and getting a fancy new one on old AM2+ socket was kinda hard to find so i saved up a bit more and got meself an Intel core i7-860 with an Asus P7P55D premium motherboard. ofcourse i needed a new cpu-cooler and RAM modules. That kinda sucks because i just modded my old RAM and cpu-cooler !
I went with a Scythe Mugen2 cpu-cooler and a pair of 4GB Kingston hyperX 1600Mhz CL8 DDR3 RAM. Also exchanged the 4890 for an 5870
In overall a very nice upgrade from the old.
To top it i exchanged my 550Watt PSU for a 680Watt PSU.

here some pictures of the overclock from these new parts, hope to get higher after completing this mod.

low voltage on vcore and fans on auto to keep system quiet.

Side panels have been painted to look old and rugged to.

The new cpu cooler made it so that the side panel wouldnt fit anymore with its fan mount on.

I took of the plastic fan mount on the inside of this panel. to bad the mesh screen came of with it aswell. i placed the mesh back with some strong double-sided tape [3M]
Luckely all this made it look better to i think.

On the other side panel i have made a hook to rest your headphones on, after all this is a music computer.

Here are the picture's of the side panels.
Also i have made a headphone rest on 1 of the side-panels
On the other side panel the big plastic fan mount is been taken out.
