I've seen that video so many times... Sheesh geek squad is unbelievable. The only thing I go to best buy for is either for a TV, monitor, or a gaming console, sometimes they have cheap blurays.

What I noticed was at least two other places (even one independent retailer it seems) lied about the cause of the malfunction as well.

Do they just have poorly trained employees or do they actively work to scam people?

Best Buy isn't all that bad if you know how to shop. They are currently selling the 5870 and 5850 for $25 cheaper than the Egg. They are also selling a GTX 275 for $229.99 among other items that have a lower than average price.

I'm not defending anywhere that would try to take advantage of the clueless, just saying don't take BB off the list of places to check.

It's all about being a smart and informed shopper.

About all I ever use B&M's for is to physically see/touch something.
You know- some things look GREAT online- then when you actually get them, they come off as cheaply made and plasticky.
I find it especially important for visually comparing LCD panels or enclosure styles.
(eg. I fell in love with the Sammy TOC series IRL- I didn't get half the feel of how much classier and sleek it was- when I had only looked online.)

So I go to all the usual spots and find models of interest.. go home and do the research.. get the specs and read the reviews... pick the final winner...
then find it online for usually ~10-20% off. (add to that: Bing, mrrebates, paypal, CC or other cashback/rebates)

Unfortunately 90+% of the population are ill informed and presume that if it's at Best Buy it's a "Good Buy"
Sometimes yes...usually NO!
Cheers ALL

They seriously had a P5K (non deluxe) for around $300. I was about to freak when I saw these prices but what made it worse was that people were swarming the place and an IT guy actually recomended this place saying he went there often. I could not believe my eyes and to think people actually trust them.
Thats how the place in another town is they got 4-5 year old tech trying to sell it as newest stuff they try to use big words and confuse people that know no better and rip them off. Sucks those places usualy stick around for along time and the decent places with good prices go under and close mutilple places around here closed that had decent prices.
