My Next Rig

Thread Starter
My new one has:

Phenom II X4 965
MSI 790FX-GD70
2x2GB 1600-DDR3
Diablotek 650w PSU
Lite-On DVD Burner
CM 690

I'm building it right now, about to format my current 320GB HDD and then pop it in there.

No graphics card yet, aiming for a 5770 or 5850 once I sell my 2 y/o rig though!

What do you think? What's the difference between the 5770 and 5850 price/performance wise?

The HD5850 is quite a bit faster since it's on a 256-bit memory bus instead of the 128-bit memory bus on the HD5770.

i think 5850 is like twice the price of the 5770. If im not mistaken, the 5770 is 128-bit and the 5850 is 256-bit. But since 5850 is double the price of a 5770 you should get 2 5770's and crossfire. It will be faster than a single 5850.

From what I can tell the MSI 790FX-GD70 is a pretty nice board, it has onboard OC capabilities, and 4 PCI-E slots. I was thinking I should get a 5850 and then maybe later on get another 5850 since Quadfire doesn't benefit like Crossfire does on most games.
