i had the same problem with my VX924. a lot of LCD monitors won't launch the game because of mismatched refresh rates or something like that, so! try this

go into your my documents folder, then open the battlefield 2 folder, then profiles, then 0001 (assuming you use the first profile created), and DELETE the video.con file. then start up BF2 and you should not have a problem. BF2 will create another video.con file for you based on your new monitor, but do go back into the video settings though and select the resolution and stuff again. hope that helps!
Well i couldn't find it but,

Great job Tobuk

Just to warn you though the game is going to be streched out because it only supports 3:4 aspect ratio. I wish game developers would start supporting widescreen more... like the source engine.

That's true but you have to buy the expansion pack for that

no you don't. it came with the latest patch. i don't own SF and can run 1280x1024 from the option menu.

if you don't have that option, you can force the game to do it no problem. click on the properties of whatever shortcut you use to launch BF2 and add "+szx 1280 +szy 1024" to the target line (without the quotes though), and it'll run that resolution no problem. you can't do that when you launch it from the CD though, you have to use that shortcut.
