Enabling ATI + PhysX on a single monitor

Thread Starter
Hi all! I'm in the process of swapping my 4850 for a GTS 250 to be used as a dedicated PhysX card. I've read the following guides (this, and this) on how to enable PhysX with an ATI card, but I've seen no mention of it running on a single monitor.

Can anybody advise? Do I need an extra cable to hook up to my monitor (making that 2 cables - 1 connected to ATI, 1 connected to PhysX, both connected to single monitor)? I want to be prepared when I get the card this Dec. 23

UPDATE: Thanks to all who helped out! I'm now running PhysX flawlessly with my 5850
I also made a guide to help out others

Thanks! Can I use that on a single monitor? Does the nvidia card need to be hooked up to a monitor?
Ok, here is what you do...

Run a monitor cable from the nvidia card to.... nothing! It doesn't need to be plugged into anything except the back of the nvidia card.

Follow all the other instructions besides that for single monitor setup.

Got anymore questions, feel free to ask.

Or, you could just make a VGA dummy plug, like what is used for multi-GPU folding.

I jus set this up with 2 cards....But I have 2 monitors...Altho I think you can hit force detection and and you set that as the secondry and make your ATi card the primary...I dont kno how well this works....it was a bit of a pain to do with 2 monitors...but now it works great! Worth it but need more PhysX games!

Cheers!

Hi all just an update:
Finally have the GTS 250! Hooked it up installed hardware, everything's good.

I have the following installed before attaching and installing the GTS 250 drivers:
-ATI 9.12 official driver
-Nvidia PhysX drivers (v2.8.1)

I go into windows, downloaded the PhysX crack patch and latest Nvidia driver (195.62 for Win7 64bit). I installed the Nvidia driver (didn't reboot) and applied the PhysX patch. However I got this message:

Quote:
>BAKING A CAKE

[SEARCH & REPLACE PATCH]
loading file:
E:\\Windows\\syswow64\
vapi.dll
nothing patched!
...done!

[SEARCH & REPLACE PATCH]
loading file:
E:\\Windows\\sysnative\
vapi64.dll
nothing patched!
...done!

>CAKE IS DONE
Weird! Anyway, the dummy vga i made (just attached a monitor cord to the GTS 250 without connecting it to a monitor) doesn't work.. so I hooked it up to my laptop. Nvidia control panel started but there's no "Set multi-gpu and PhysX configuration" under 3D settings (As it should be). Seems like the patch won't work? Or am I doing something wrong?

What did the patch look like when it ran for you? Did it give you button options? I had to run the patch in safe mode to get it to run properly and it had button options with a burn option. I then restarted and had the Nvidia control center look like this...
