Thread Starter
I think my amd 2600 barton is the ( bottleneck ) coz recently i bought a x800gt 256mb .. and it did not run so well, not at the best performance .. so can someone tell me what cpu i need to get ( amd ) in order to perform smoothly ?

My mobo : SOYO KT-600 Draogn Plus.

Thanks a lot !

ps: im not planning to upgrade my mobo

A question for you...
Can you control the vcore?
If so have you tried running a 200MHz FSB? It would require about 1.8v so you would need to watch the full load temps and keep below 55c.

BTW... I edited your Tytle... it was to vague

Well...
It goes like this... with a good FHS or Fan HEat Sink to propperly cool the 2600+ Barton, upping the vcore or CPU voltage to about 1.8v and setting the FSB or Front Side Buss, it will perform just like a 3200
The thing to watch is your temperatures which you can monitor with Speed Fan or Motherboard Monitor.
So for less money by buying a better FHS you will have very good performance and spend far less because the Thermaltake Volcano 12 is about $35

I should edit but I wanted you to see this seperatly...
Ill you have to do is go into your BIOS and look for the FSB which is currently set to AUTO or 166 and vcore which would be AUTO or 1.65v.
You can do this without screwing up anything by "Do not save" and exit thus not actually changing anything.
Once you find those it's a breeze to "reclock" the CPU and get great performance.

That is my point...
When you change the FSB to "Nonstandard" speeds with your motherboard you have problems.
Using a "Standard" FSB of 200 you won't have any issues with booting.
The only thing is the cooling and whether you need 1.8 volts or maybe just a notch more

I bet if you up the voltage to 1.8 and FSB to 200 now it will boot into Windows safely... the temps my be a little high but so long as you don't GAME it should be fine. So, a better FHS and you are all set!

Not sure in your BIOS.... look for either vcore or CPU Voltage. If it is "Auto" you may have the option to change it... BRB, going to get your manual...
IS YOU motherboard version 1 or 2 ???
Your problems so far is the vcore and the FSB ... as you up the FSB you need more vcore and with the 600 chipset, you do not have a PCI/AGP lock so they increase as the FSB does. The PCI/AGP increase is the main issue... because, when it gets to high the system gets unstable.
So thats why the "Standard" 200 will work great with enough vcore and good cooling
