Big Typhoon $35 after rebates :) Plus Review!

Thread Starter
I just went to Fry's Electronics and picked up a Big Typhoon for $49.99 and a $15 Main in Rebate.... so the end cost is like $35 after tax.... (my friend works there so he gave me additional 20% off)

I switched from my Xp-120 , mainly because of it's ease to install and remove and it fits way more boards than my xp120 does. Cooling wise.... So far it's Performace is EXCELLENT.

Results are as follow.

Xp-120 On 110CFM fan:
Idle: 32
Full Load: 44

Big Typhoon on stock 55CFM fan:
Idle:36
Full Load: 41

As you can see, at full load the Big typhoon perfomed better. The idle is because of the lower CFM on the fan. If i put the 110 CFM on the Big Typhoon, I do not doubt that it will outperfom my xp-120.

Good air cooler, A bit on the heavy side thought. It was a bit of a hassle trying to get to the screws, the key is to use a long screw drive that is new and not stripped. that way it will even tighten at an angle.

$35 after rebates? A deal one cannot Miss.

A little trick...
The screws are probably pna heads or button heads. I ground them down and incerted them from the bottom and used dubble nuts toretain the FHS.
Check the heads so that they do not protrude beyond the base or the MB may not sit flat on the towers.
BTW, schweet deal you got there

Yeah I got the same deal. It was funny. The price tag said 59.99 and I ended up paying 49.99 and got a 15 dollar mail in rebate. That felt good
