That way to hot
mid 50c range under full load.
You may have a lame reporting... check for any BIOS updates related to that!

About two years ago I ran a recording on my cpu temps and found that under load they were hitting upwards of 70C with 61C at Idle (this was before I started overclocking, I didn't know any better)... personally I thought it was pretty hot, so I decided to take a look at the HS. I was running the same XP2400+

Clogged with dust.

I remember cleaning it out using some tweasers and q-tips and after a thorough inspection I put it all back together and re-checked the temps...

31C Idle, 35C under load.

Make sure that HSF is cleaned out, and keep an eye on it... Granted the XP's run a bit hotter, but if he isn't overclocking and the voltage isn't high, he may just need a good cleaning.

And check everything The Duke said... He's a man of great wisdom.
