AMD athlon XP 2000?? What temps should it be running??

What temps should this CPU be running at idle, stock cooling its about 70.F in the room with the case open and Pc Wizard is reading a temp of 62.C

LOL... I only know 55c max.
Typpical default settings should give up mid30c to low40c temps depending on the overall cooling of the FHS and case air flow.

70f = 22c very good indeed ... I'm a bit lost as to why you have 62c in PC wizard
If that is indeed in "c" you have a way to hot temp there!

Yup speedfan reads the same Im gonna take it out and see if there is any compound on it. This computer is untampered so I think maybe a manufature screw up. Thanks for the help. Ill leave a rep point..........................

Yeah thats the thing to do I was thinking that maybe the readings were wrong but I stuck my temp probe oon it and got an idle temp of 44-48.C, on a load Speedfan said 72.C and the probe said between 50.c and 53.C, could there be a mis-read here or what. Im sure Im only ready part of the temp with the probe and not all, so I think it might be runnign as hot as it says, but speedfan also says the fan is running at 5500rpm and then its running 168,000(which I know isnt true. This is kinda wierd.

Try Everest home edtion for your temps, speedfan don't like some motherboards.
