Awesome, can't wait to see it built! I almost asked for a Scout for Christmas, but decided on the HAF 922 instead.

That PSU looks nice, but I suggest looking at the Corsair 850TX for $129. Been using a 750 in my rig, and my wife's father's computer is running on a 400w Corsair. That would save you $80.

so I might down it to 1 Video Card just for awhile (mainly cause 300 bucks per card is a bit spendy) and if I decide I wanna boost it I'll snag another 5850 or a compatible model for CrossFire. What you guys think?

That would be a really good idea. Then when its feeling sluggish, add the second card then.

Of course, if you were willing to spend $600+ on two cards, why not pick up a 5870 for $400, then later on when you have more money or feel the hankerin' for more power, you can really boost it. It just depends on how much money you care to spend over time, really.
post #16 of 25
I dont think it's worth spending that much money on 2 of those cards considering that the 5850s in crossfire only scale 25% more performance and 5870's even less. Whereas the 5770's scale up to 50%
Sorry i cant find a source for what i'm saying but i did read it a while ago

appreciate the input but I think I'll be sticking with the 5850's, bit newer technology always is nice, so at this point I'm updating list to show the new prices with only 1 video card and double checking to make sure everythings in stock, I get paid friday so I'm stoked on that. definaetly a bazillion and a half pics to come.

a 790fx board instead?

isnt the 790gx boards less of a o/c board?
(gigabyte ud5 790fx)<- came out pretty recent
uh... the 5770 and the 5850's tech don't differ that much tbh. I think humble is pretty onpoint. there is this article somewhere reviewing crossfire vs single gpu

imo, spend ur money on a higher end(NEWER TECH) and then upgrade by slotting another one in later as it gets cheaper and as u get more money to upgrade.

@sKrod,
I'll look into the new board, thanks!

Edit: The board you referanced is a ATX where as my tower can only support an ATX mid or a MicroATX. thanks for trying though!

Edit on the Edit: Im an idiot and mistyped something somehwere or misread, that board should work pretty well but its also running 55 bucks more for it than the one I got now... so im gonna stick with the one I got at the moment. again I thank you for the input and trying to help, if I come across the cash sometime over the course of this project ill upgrade.
