Dedicated server help?

How will i setup and configure a dedicated server? Like if i get http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/ServerRoot
how will i set up the basic things to it ? will ssh and everything be working immediatly? do i have to install php, cgi and mysql by hand? how will i configure it? and is there any type of remote desktop or anything for it? thanks

It will already have a preconfigured basic environment with SSH installed. If you want a remote graphical environment, install a VNC server like tightvnc.

I had one of these server plans for a while--they're okay. I spent a good deal of my time trying to remotely install FreeBSD.
