What To Get For Socket 939 - Page 2

any graphics card will be better than onboard, lol, so the radeon 9250 wouldn't be a bad option for now. i'd say get the asrock since it's pretty reliable and has AGP and PCI-e.

ok because dont all onboard graphics eat up your RAM? i only have 512mb so that would be bad..... but i will get another 512mb in a month or so.

Just disable onbaord.

And AsRock? I am not a hardware maven, but never heard of them

**personal opinion follows** I would go Asus, Abit or MSI.

well my 9250 is agp 8x/4x and if i get a board i want it to support that and the asrock supports that and pci-e 16x, and every micro atx dosnt support both, eventually i would like to upgrade to pci-e but what is the difference between pci-e and agp?

A lot

Especially as time goes on.

Quick version: http://www.directron.com/directron/expressguide.html

The amount of data PCIe can push is much higher than AGP.

The best thing honestly is to get a socket 754 setup if you are on a budget. Newegg has my motherboard and CPU as a combo for 100$, so throw in a graphics card and hopefully a better PSU, you are set.

Arg, the only good reason to go Socket939 is becuse of PCI-E and SLI

IF you are a end-User, and only do mild gaming/e-mail/word proc then a socket 754 is fine.

IF you want to spend that extra few bucks so you do not have to upgarde later on, get a socket 939 setup.

BTW: That CPU you have there is a real Gem' It is a True barton with 512KB cache(the only sempron with 512kb)
