2x512 or 1GB?

Thread Starter
1GB GSKILL DDR500 3-4-4-8, $99

or 2x512MB pqi DDR500 3-4-4-8 $117

I'd kinda like to be able to get an upgrade to 2GB. Now, my mobo I'm getting has 4 slots, but I'm worried about heat...

Ever 2x SOMETHING.

Try to buy 2x1GB, it's a good investment.

I prefer 2x512, dualchannel...

I don't think dual channel matters in AMD systems. So go for the cheaper RAM.

It does within certain exceptions:
NONE of the socket 754 mobos support dual channel configurations.
MOST of the socket A mobos so not support dual channel configurations,
however the latest, and more expensive does.
ALL of the socket 939 mobo allows dual channel memory since socket 939 CPUs have integrated memory controllers.
One more advantage of the socket 939 CPUs over socket 754 is that
socket 939 has 128 bit wide memory bandwidth path.

as for his mobo, well it's socket 939 mobo, so there are no doubts about it being qualified to run dual channel memory.

Get the 2 x 512 stick's.

Dual channel is a big plus in an AMD system.

Ya, I did it for expandability. IfI want 2x512 I can get my friend... he has a gig dual channel PC4000.
get the 1 gigabyte stick x1 so you have more room for future expansion if you ever felt you wanted to.
