Laptop Overclocking?

Hi.

The laptop I have has a 2.1 GHz T6500 that's apparently a Penryn, I reckon the chip could be pushed abit, question is, would it be possible on a laptop? Who's overclocked laptops?

I know there is no overclocking in the bios so don't know how exactly I go about overclocking it. Same for the GPU, no ATi Overdrive, any idea how I overclock that too?

Temps for the GPU at idle appear to be around 45 degrees, and about 37ish for the CPU. Laptop is an Acer 7735G

Heard of people using a program called SetFSB, never tried it myself, so can't really advise on it.

I tend to undervolt my laptops to maximize battery life . Core 2 Duo T9300 is pretty much fast enough for anything I do, lol.

Hmmm what should I trust most?

Realtemp or Speedfan?

Is there a specific version of real temp to use? It's showing 54 at idle O_o.

According to real temp load temp is 66/63 but speedfan says 51, distance to TJMax is 33/36

You reckon I could get away with 200MHz maybe 300 on the cores?

Yes, probably more.

I overclock my notebooks. T7300 @ 3ghz, T8100 @ 2.75ghz.

Check my guide on how to find the clock generator (PLL):

And then how to pin mod the PLL to overclock:

As long as you know what PLL it has and if you can find the datasheet for the PLL you should be able to overclock.

Did you read the link I gave about finding the PLL?
You can use software to detect some PLLs.
Also you could just try every single PLL in setfsb and hope one of them works.

Or find the datasheet for your notebook. Or search the net to see if anyone has overclocked the same notebook.
