It's possible. It's also completely pointless and expensive. Don't bother trying it.

Why is it completly pointless? Maybe he wants to expierem, ent, maybe he just wants to try something new. Maybe he was just curious.

Posts like yours do not help one bit.

Why do you guys say Mineral Oil is expensive?

I can get 1L bottles of baby oil for less than 3 USD. That isn't that expensive compared to some of the liquid I see people buy for their water cooling setup.

So the whole computer is submerged in mineral oil? I kinda think that the psu wouldn't last very long seeing as how the oil slowed the fan down.

That is really cool tho. I wanna try it.

You are mistaken. It is not always pointless. A mineral oil bath can be a very effective way to prevent condensation problems. Not that very many people use or have ever used chilled liquid cooling or direct die phase cooling. But if you were to set up a chiller and run a loop at say -30C cooling your cpu, nb,mosfet and gpu's - then putting the entire thing in an oil bath would be a simple way to prevent any condensation problems.

It would probably be better to not put the power supply in the oil bath.

The power supply will be fine in the mineral oil if it has solid caps, which most of our higher end and enthusiast power supplies come standard with.

It is not the freeze point you need to worry about it is the point at which it becomes so slushy it barely moves especially if your pumping it.....that can be rather less than the freeze point.

I was thinking TEC with the best HSF in a mineral oil bath. Could it work in like a 20gal or 30 gal tank?
