P3 Dead?

Thread Starter
I am trying to boot up my old PIII 700 to fold. When I start it up, the screen jsut stays blank, light doesn't clock green. I can hear the HD booting and everything looks and sounds normal. I have tried different HD's, different video cards, different monitors, different variations of wiring, even the RAM, oh ya and the keyboard. Nothing changes so any ideas as to why this happens? There is a jumper on the mobo to clear the cmos, would that help? I really don't know much about it all. Any help most welcome.

Have you tried the ultra-barebones test? Try booting with just the mobo, GPU, PSU, CPU, and 1 stick of RAM with the mobo on an anti-static bag outside of the case. If that doesn't boot, try booting with one of the major components (CPU, RAM, GPU) removed at a time to see if you can get the mobo to produce the appropriate POST errors for the missing components. That method usually helps to identify which components are bad. Although you did work your way through things methodically, this is a fairly quick test that may help.
