NOT SO GOOD 7800gt???? - Page 4

hey, I have the same mobo... and while others have been correct in saything that you do not need to have power pluged into the ez plug (or whatever the molex right above the primary gfx card is) unless you are funning SLI... it DOES NOT HURT anything to use it even w/ one card. I just leave it plugged in at all times, yes my rig will run w/o it, but I figure more power to the mobo can't be a bad thing.

Also, for those who have said that the power adapter (molex to pcie 6pin) has a input and output (male and female end) IT DOES NOT. I just pulled mine out of my evga box and it defiantely has 2 female molex pins. So you DO NEED to use Both. Plug 2 4pin molex connectors from your psu directly into your gfx card and a third to your mobo. See if this helps.

Alright, to change your RAM settins head into the bios and to Advanced, CPU, then RAM (or something like that, I can't remember exactly) in there you will be able to change the timings of your RAM. it will most likely be set to auto. change it to manual then at the bottom you will see something about command rate w/ 2T change it to 1T. you also might want to give your RAM a little bit more juice. (that's in the jumperfree settings, still in advanced menu) it's probably set to auto... give it 2.75 or 2.8

finally since you've changed stuff w/ your RAM I sugest you run memtest for a while to make sure it's stable.

Also, make sure that you used drivercleaner to get rid of your ATI drivers and have the newest nvidia platform and graphics drivers. (you may need to update your mobo's bios in order to run the new platform drivers)

I hope this helps at least a bit.

I got 7236 3DMARKS?? is that good? Remember my system is a x2 3800, evga 7800gt, 1gig OCZ platinum, and a asus A8N-SLI. Is their anything that i need to change in the bios or the display settins to make it better? Would gettin another gig of RAM help out alot?

Just google 'memtest86', you will need a floppy drive or bootable cd. Run it when you turn on your computer and let it run a few passes, or overnight if you can.

that's decent. I get in the 71xx range when my system is at stock speeds and 74xx-75xx OC'd. with some OCing and tweaking you should be able to get in the high 7xxx's to low 8xxx.

another gig of RAM will help your overall performance.

you should let memtest run several loops. I usually let it run through all the tests a few times then run it through test 8 about 20 times.

So you guys think after i get my other gig of ram it should help out alot correct. I think that their is some type of setting that is wrong or somthin because with this setup it should be able to run fear like nothing. Where do i go to set it to 3d performance? It just seems right now that i didnt go anywhere from my 9800pro and that i should have stuck with that

Okay so your problem was that you can only get 60 fps max while playing Counter Strike. I think you can solved this problem by going to your video card properties and turning off vertical sync. I had the same prob, all I did was turn off the vsync. I had 60 fps max, now its 100+ fps. Here's what I did.

1. Right click your desktop.
2. Go to Properties
3. Go to Settings
4. Click Advance
5. Click the Geforce7800gt tab
6. Then a sidebar should pop up, now click performance and quality settings
7. Under Gobal driver setting, scroll down to vertical sync, click it
8. Unclick application controlled.
9. Now you should be able to max your fps out.

Hope this helps. Goodluck
