OC Opteron 148

Thread Starter
I have the new Opteron 148 with CACJE 0546 stepping. It runs stock at 2.2 and I have overclocked it the 2.84 stable. This was on stock 1.4v but seems if I move voltage up to 1.45 or 1.5v it seems to run really slow. Anyone has these problems? Seems anything over 2.86 it gets unstable. I have it set on 258*11. And I have be leaving the memory on 200. I didn't set divider because it seems to not help as much as it would for the high end memory. I am only using 2X512mb of my memory becuase it goes to single channel with anything more than 2 sticks in orange slots. Oc's better with only 2-512mb sticks and runs dual channel. -Micah

Im using this beta bios from DFI here:

http://us.dfi.com.tw/Support/Downloa...FLAG=B&SITE=NA

It is the bios on the top (PCB Revision A 2005/12/07)
What bios should I use?

The voltage I have not messed with because when I turn it up to 1.5v on vcore it makes windows load slow.
What VID and VID Special settings should I adjust to?
Should I raise the chipset voltage also?
I am putting the 2-512mb in the Orange slots on mobo.
Should I run divider at 133?
Thanks, Micah

I have it running 2.9 so far stable that I can run my games and 3dmorks03. I know some people say you need to run Prime95 or whatever but I don't have the programs right now. 264X11 @ 1.4V & * 109%

I haven't OC'ed the G-Card yet, need to get coolbits2 also.

Do not flash the EXPERT with the regular NF-4 BIOS such as 6/23-3 unless you hate your rig and enjoy rma's...

Use either the 11/2 (shipping bios) or 12/7

Someone please help me now, lol. I can't get my computer to load to the desktop. It shows the Windows loading screen and then advances to show the blue screen that says Microsoft Windows XP on it. But it will just sit there at that screen? I tried to clear CMOS and waited about a minute then set the boot devices back for the hardrive. But does this every time. Seems like something in bios is not changing? Anyone know what this could be? Thanks, Micah

Time to put the CMOS battery then. I had the same thing happen to me. I tried resetting the CMOS several times and nothing. Then I pulled the battery and left it out for about an hour and then popped it back in and it worked after that. I'm not sure if you have to but whenever I pop the battery, I unplug the PSU as well.

See if that works and keep us updated.

Yea, I thought of popping the battery out. Actually tried but that little booger is hard to pop out cause harddrives are in the way. And need smaller flat head screw driver. Thanks for the comment, Micah
