Samsung 226BW flickers for a few minutes when powering on - Page 5

Another thanks for this tutorial.

My monitor started the flickering back in 2010, I bought it in the mid summer of 2007. I used it for a TV screen more than a computer monitor with my cable going through the video card. I thought the problem was from it being on all the time or a driver upgrade.

I was moving so packed it away and used another monitor. That just died on2/24/12 so I unpacked the Samsung and it started flickering but finally came on. It went black during sleep mode. I finally got it back after playing around with the brightness and it warming up. I did a Google search, found this site, and the rest is history. I love this monitor so thanks for the info. I really can not thank you enough!!!!

Usually when i get into something like this I screw something else up but it works great!

Thanks for the help
Dan

This happened to my 226bw also and I looked on youtube and saw a tutorial so I said wth and tried it. Ordered the caps, replaced them and my monitor has been going strong ever since. My monitor started by flickering for 5 minutes before it stopped then it got longer and longer. Once it started taking 2 hours I had enough and started searching for fixes. So for less than $10 it was fixed. I took pics while I was doing it also. Was super easy. I was upset cause I got the monitor the first day it was released and it was like $459...

Finally had to do the replacement, came home one day and monitor had no signal (having been continuously on since my last post almost). Needed to get two 680uf 25v capacitors as well for the center of the board as per one of the other posts in the thread.

Monitor turns on, works perfectly. Lets see if I get months or years more out of this screen thumb.gif

Wow so glad i found this topic , i have Samsung 2232BW with this exact problem , first when it started it was just some flickering when i turned it on but now it takes almost 30min before it turns on.
I have ordered those capacitors:

I'm going to attempt this repair when i get them , hope it will work with 2232BW since those models are very similar.

That's ominous! my 3 Jaycar Capacitors arrived tonight and installed (about $10 including freight) ... I have yet to reassamble ... but fingers crossed; like many here I am a soldering novice on circuitry like this ... it it fails to come up, nothing much lost.

Thanks for the detailed photos and instructions.

Hi Guys....

I have some problems with my 2 1/2 years Old "Samsung 20" 2033SW Plus TFT Lcd Monitor, it produces some Random Flickering on top of the screen mostly when we turn on the monitor or Monitor goes to standby mode, like i said it's Random sometimes no prblm it starts working fine after a few seconds had this prblm last month i thought it was some interference( The Flickering is like degaussing in CRT) and there are some Dark tiny Spots spread on the right bottom side of the monitor( i think it's dead pixels or may be dust), My Warranty expires in 3 months so i filed a complaint they said i can Expect a Service Engineer in 24 working Hours.......

Just want to add my thanks! Worked like a charm.

For everyone else looking to do this fix on the 226BW , here's what I ordered (cheapest I found):

2x 1000uF 25V High Temp Radial Capacitor - $0.79 each

1x 330uF 25V High Temp Radial Capacitor - $0.36 each

Total = $1.94 + $3.95 Fedex SmartPost = $5.89

Literally just finished and fired up like new. Thanks!
