Dfi-Lanparty Ultra-D, good overclocking? stability?

Thread Starter
I am currently in the midst of building my new computer:
Parts:
Case : Frozen Lian-Li Pc-61
PSU : Hyper Type-R 580W
Mobo: Dfi-Lan party Ut Nf-4 Ultra D
CPU : X2 3800 64
Ram : 1gb OCZ plant 4001024ELPE
HD :Western Digital 74gb raptor
VC : Evga 7800gt co 256-p2-n517-AX
Dvd : Pioneer Dvd+CD R & RW (DVR-R100)
Cooling:
Video card: Nv 5 Revision 3 Arctic cooler
CPU : Thermaltake (not to sure what model)
Hard drive : Vantec Vortex VTX-CO1-BK

I have put tons of research in the past 2 months... Yet I have not come across someone who can really give me a good review of their experience with the Dfi-lan party ultra D...

Has anyone had experience with it? Know any good reviews?
Thanks for the help...

Oh and if anyone wants to throw in a good CPU cooler recomendation feel free.

Can't complain about mine either. Of course mine is the SLI-DR, but same thing really. There are a couple of difference there, but nothing major. These boards can be picky for the parts that it will work with, but you should be ok with what is in your sig. Also, the chipset gets a little warm with stock cooling, so you may want to look into getting a replacement. I just placed
AS5 and a fan blowing on the chipset and mine is ok now. Was 52C idle, after AS5 and panaflo fan blowing on chipset, 36C idle and 42C load.

Well I am hoping to put a big cpu cooler like a ThermalTek big Tycoon... (atleast that's what I have been recomended to)... I think that should be able to help dissipate the heat all over the mobo...

But I'm not the most advanced in computers, and so I was just guessing that you mean the cpu fan... but If I am wrong, are you saying that the mobo comes with a fan just for the mobo electronics and not the cpu?

I was a little worried about moving to DFI after all the bad stories I had heard about them, but I will never use another board again. I would hands down recommend the DFI, just remember it takes awhile to master the BOIS. Have fun with your new rig.

also make sure all of your parts are going to be compatible with the motherboard.. DFI's are picky.

See if all the parts are compatible by going to dfi-street.com

the last thing anyone needs to worry about is compatability issues when it comes to building a rig, if theres compatability issues then i dont want, thats why i chose the A8N-SLI Deluxe, its rock solid, no horror stories and compatible with everything except ATI cards but thats ok because i never liked ATI cards anywho, Nvidia all the way!

its my opinion, take it or leave it!

Overclocking, go for the DFI, but the stability can be a bit dodgy once you get up into the higher end. I find this to be the fault of the inadequate chipset fan myself. I really like my ASUS a8n-sli deluxe, but that would be my recommendation.

On an unrelated note, the Ultra-D can undergo a slight physical modificaiton to the chipset to make it SLI-D.....PM me if yo ureally want to know....
