Question about socket 478/479 CPUs

My pops just picked this up, i think. He doesn't know too much about computers, and I don't know much about Intel. Will any socket 478 processor fit in that socket such as a 3 GHz 800 MHz FSB Prescott fit it? I think he has the Celeron 370 or 360 now. I'm not too sure about this thing; he didnt give me any information other than it is an HP the size of a VCR. He confirmed that it is a slimline

Any input? Also, he is probably going to let me have his old setup since something doesnt work. They just bought a new computer to fix it.

and no one can help me...read all you want, im not waiting for an answer :.( hahaha
Ok, the slimline series you linked uses socket 479 processors. You can't use a 3GHz P4 because the motherboard only supports Pentium M processors and Celeron's, not P4's. here
is that Celeron M you were talking about (not a bad processor really)

Wowza is correct, it is socket 479. It states on Newegg that it's socket 478, but it is a different socket than the desktop 478 cpu's.

I would say upgrade to a Pentium M (Dothan chip), but make sure it has the 400mhz FSB, as that HP motherboard might not support 533mhz FSB.
