It should also be stated that with a TV monitor and not a COMPUTER monitor, he'll need an HDMI cable, and that often people that use HDMI with computers can't see there boot screens...

I've never had that issue? Both with nVidia (DVI -> HDMI) and ATi (direct HDMI).

case, keyboard, mouse, speakers, dvd drive, the most expensive componant that isnt on your list will be the graphics card.

the mother board should come with sata cables for your hdd and dvd drive and the 1000w psu is a little overkill unless you are definatly going xfire or sli.

you'll need a dvi to hdmi cable to get the best from your plasma, however looking at your motherboard it doesnt have any video connections at all so add at least an extra £150 to your total for a decent graphics card, cuz you'll have to get it at the same time as the rest of your gear.

plus i presume you've got an operating system handy cuz if not thats another £50-£90 roughly.

other than that the parts you've chosen are pretty good and should make a pretty decent pc once your done

the only issue i had when i used my tv instead of a monitor was that i couldnt get the picture to fit my screen properly when playing games, it was fine in windows cuz i just used nvidia control panal to resize my desktop but games just reverted the image to normal resolutions.
so i gave up and bought a dedicated monitor

My computer hasn't had any problems using my TV as a monitor either.

Looks like a good start to me, especially since I have the same CPU/Motherboard.

Cables will come with a retail motherboard, Heatsink/Fan will come with retail cpu.

So you need to pickout Case/Optical/OS/Videocard still. Videocard will be a significant investment expecially if you are going to crossfire/sli.

Thread Starter
Oh wow, well heres my official introduction. Im a Drunk....I swear I had the ATI 4890 selected. I will update my post with the case and Mobo, I suppose I will select a different PS.

I know the 1000W is overkill, but Im building this system to be able to upgrade. Add more graphics/ram whatever.

Going to upgrade now....I KNEW THAT SEEMED TO CHEAP!

/EDIT: Added the following to original post:

CD/DVD DRIVE
PLEXTOR 24X DVD/CD Writer Black SATA Model PX-880SA LightScribe Support - Retail
Item #: N82E16827249051

VIDEO CARD
XFX HD-489X-ZSFC Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Retail
Item #: N82E16814150438

CASE
Thermaltake Xaser VI VG4000BNS Black / Red Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Retail
Item #: N82E16811133051

TOTAL COST: 1231.92

What am I forgetting? Cables? Something for sure right? This thing is NO LONGERcheaper than the crappy laptop I bought a week ago from Best Buy.

What else do I need for a fully functional gaming computer?

/EDIT: How would you upgrade this computer, im wanting to stay around 1500, less is better!
