I'd like to see that.

Kidding aside, I'm getting it this Saturday so hopefully I can do some quick thermals and compare to the two.

Just an update for you guys. This is the response I received from Chris at Indigo Xtreme....

"Thanks for the inquiry; the concern with the TRUE is that it allows the sink to twist/rotate after being clamped down; this would compromise the interface. Looking at the Venomous X pics, it would appear that the clamp is formed such that rotation is prohibited; what is your experience with this sink?"

I emailed him back explained I hadn't received mine yet but had heard from owners both that it does twist and that it is impossible to twist haha. Anyway my interpretation of this is that regardless of whether or not you can twist your heatsink, you can still use Indigo Xtreme if you don't mess with it once it's installed. However, if the heatsink moves at all you would need to reapply Indigo Xtreme. My conclusion is that as long as the VenomX is reasonably snug you shouldn't have any problems using it w/ Indigo Xtreme. I will update you guys if Chris responds again.

Well I got mine yesterday, and I'll be testing Indigo Extreme against ICD7 when I get my new case on monday. I'll post my results here tuesday. I'll also be testing 2 San Ace fans vs 1 fan. If anybody is interested.

Well... that would be delicate. If you're using it on a desktop or testbed flat then yeah... but if it was going in a tower, it might be hard due to gravity.

Anyway it's a moot point since I think it won't twist if installed properly. Slept good last night so I think I might test it out today.

From what I understand about how the Indigo works, If your heatsink moved at all then you would need to reheat your cpu up to 90c and let the Indigo reflow. I don't think you would need to reapply it.

I have the Venomous X. Got sent to me from Thermalright and arrived yesterday. Will be doing a review on it. Under testing as we speak. Will be putting it against the Mega Shadow and new Noctua NH-D1 which have also arrived

Should have a review done very soon. At work all week, so may be a bit slow, but anywhere from wed-sat i'll have it done.

K, I've got an update for the twisting/rotating thing. I reseated my VX today.

The main problem was that I had it on max pressure. Once you do more pressure than just a little bit, the heatsink becomes rotatable. At max pressure, it's easily rotated from side to side.

With no pressure, you can actually still move it a tiny bit. I don't know if this is because I had bent my metal somehow or what... but I solved this issue. I actually put 3 layers of masking tape on both edges where the clamping bar clamps onto. Now when it's fully screwed on it doesn't move at all. Then with a little bit of pressure added from the center screw, it doesn't move at all, and there is some pressure on the center.

The problem now is, I was getting better temps with max pressure. This is on a 1366 i7 W3520 system. I'm actually going to put it on max pressure right now and see if temps drop again.

edit: Okay, just did it. Temps actually got worse by about 1C. With my i7 overclocked to 4.3ghz @ 1.344v I'm hitting 82C at full Linx load. I think I have it seated wrong somehow, since my coolest core was 77C. Going to reseat again! Hmmm... I wonder if my tape mod is negatively affecting temps.

Yeah I was testing out mine today and with no pressure, it does not move.

When I applied minimal pressure, it sort of wiggled.

When I applied a lot of pressure (~70 lbs) it wiggled a fair amount.

----

I'm currently testing it with no pressure (no wiggle) and I'm seeing better temperatures than my Xigamatek S1283 but I'm just worried if the heatsink moving is normal or not.
